CYCLONES CLOSE OUT 2025 WITH STATEMENT WEEKEND BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK

Listowel, Ont- The Listowel Cyclones delivered a strong finish to the 2025 portion of the season, earning two important victories in as many nights to head into the two-week holiday break with momentum, confidence, and four valuable standings points.


Thursday Night: Cyclones 4 – Legionnaires 2 (Sarnia)

On Thursday evening, the Cyclones traveled west to Sarnia to face the Legionnaires at the Pat Stapleton Arena, with puck drop set for 7:10 p.m. Listowel wasted no time asserting itself.

Just 40 seconds into the opening period, Trenton Houghton opened the scoring for the Cyclones, finishing a play set up by Hudson Wiles. Sarnia responded to level the game, but at 9:04, Colton Henderson restored the Cyclones’ lead with a well-placed goal, assisted by Lyndon Cabral and Hudson Wiles. The Legionnaires answered once more, and the teams headed to the first intermission tied 2–2.

The second period belonged to Listowel. Henderson struck again, recording his second goal of the night with assists from Jordan Visneskie and Keaton Middleton. At 9:57, the Cyclones’ power play capitalized when Aiden Renaud scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Ryan Cranny and Dylan Szymanowski.

The third period was a disciplined, defensive effort from both sides, with no further scoring. In goal, Ethan Kowatsch was sharp and composed, turning aside 25 shots to secure the 4–2 victory on the road.


Friday Night: Cyclones 4 – Vipers 1 (Home)

Less than 24 hours later, the Cyclones returned home to the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena for their final game of 2025, hosting the LaSalle Vipers. With players, staff, and fans embracing the holiday spirit, puck drop came at 7:42 p.m. in a festive atmosphere.

The Cyclones again struck early. Just 1:07 into the first period, Jordan Visneskie opened the scoring, finishing a play set up by Lyndon Cabral and Cameron Beisel. LaSalle responded later in the frame, and the teams went to the intermission tied.

The second period saw an immediate spark from Listowel. Only 33 seconds in, Visneskie netted his second goal of the night and 15th of the season, with assists from Colton Henderson and Aiden Renaud. For Henderson, the helper marked his 10th assist of the season.

In the third period, the Cyclones pulled away. Henderson scored on the power play, assisted by Hudson Wiles, who collected his 10th assist of the campaign. Trenton Houghton then added insurance with his second goal of the weekend, assisted by Trenton Harris and Colton Henderson.

Between the pipes, Jack Bree delivered another strong performance, stopping 31 shots to seal the 4–1 win and complete a perfect weekend.


Looking Ahead

With the two victories, the Cyclones head into the holiday break on a high note. The team returns to action in the new year with a classic Battle of Perth County, hosting the Stratford Warriors for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena.
