Listowel, Ont- The Listowel Cyclones closed out the 2025–26 GOHL regular season with a strong road performance before returning home for an emotional final game at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex on Friday night.
Cyclones Power Past Vipers in LaSalle
The Cyclones opened the week on the road Wednesday night in LaSalle, taking on the Vipers in a strong all-around team performance that resulted in a 5–2 victory.
Listowel struck first in the opening period while on the power play. Jordan Visneskie opened the scoring for the Cyclones, finishing off a well-executed man-advantage sequence with assists from Hudson Wiles and Colton Henderson.
The Cyclones continued to apply pressure later in the first period when Aiden Renaud doubled the lead, capitalizing on offensive zone pressure. The goal was assisted by Michael Paleczny and Trent Houghton, giving Listowel a strong 2–0 start.
LaSalle responded in the second period with their first goal of the game, but the Cyclones answered shortly after. Trenton Harris restored the two-goal lead for Listowel with a goal assisted by Trent Houghton and Tate Berfelz.
The Vipers would add another goal later in the frame, but the Cyclones sealed the game in the third period.
Lyndon Cabral extended the Cyclones’ lead with a goal assisted by Jack O’Donnell and Jordan Visneskie, before Dylan Szymanowski added the final tally of the night with assists from Ethan Fischer and Keaton Middleton.
In net, Jack Bree delivered an outstanding performance, turning aside 37 shots to backstop the Cyclones to the 5–2 road victory.
Emotional Season Finale at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex
Friday night marked the final regular season game for the Cyclones, as they welcomed the St. Thomas Stars to a packed Steve Kerr Memorial Complex in front of 610 fans.
The evening carried extra significance as the Cyclones took the ice wearing their special Paddyfest jerseys, celebrating Listowel’s proud Paddyfest tradition.
Prior to puck drop, a ceremonial faceoff brought together the Listowel Kinsmen mascot and the Cyclones mascot, with a Kinsman member dropping the puck between Jack O’Donnell and Dylan Szymanowski.
The game also marked the final Cyclones appearance for Jack O’Donnell, Dylan Szymanowski, and goaltender Ethan Kowatsch. All three players were honoured before the game by both the Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL) and the Listowel Cyclones Hockey Club for their hard work, dedication, and commitment both on and off the ice during their time with the organization.
On the ice, the Stars came out strong in the opening period, scoring the first two goals of the game.
St. Thomas added another goal in the second period before the Cyclones began to battle back. Lyndon Cabral got Listowel on the board with a power play goal, assisted by Jordan Visneskie and Aiden Renaud, cutting the deficit to two.
The Cyclones continued their push in the third period when Jordan Visneskie scored to bring Listowel within one. The goal was assisted by Dylan Szymanowski and Hudson Wiles, energizing the home crowd.
Despite the late push, the Cyclones were unable to complete the comeback, falling 3–2 to the Stars.
In goal, Ethan Kowatsch delivered a strong performance in his final Cyclones appearance, making 27 saves.
