LISTOWEL, ON — Friday night at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena was more than just another game on the schedule — it was a night of honour, pride, and remembrance. As the Listowel Cyclones hosted the Komoka Kings on Veteran’s Night, players, coaches, and fans came together to pay tribute to those who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms. The building was filled with emotion and energy, setting the tone for a memorable matchup that delivered both grit and heart.
The Cyclones came out determined to secure a win for the hometown crowd. The opening frame saw Jordan Visneskie put on a display of skill, stick-handling through traffic on the power play before deking the goaltender and burying the puck for the 1–0 lead. Lyndon Cabral and Jack O’Donnell drew assists on the play. Minutes later, Visneskie and O’Donnell combined again on a dazzling two-on-none rush — exchanging passes before O’Donnell finished off the play with a clean goal to double the Cyclones’ advantage.
Komoka battled back, scoring once in the second and again in the third to force overtime. In the extra frame, it was Colton Henderson who sealed the victory for Listowel, scoring the game-winner at 2:42 of overtime off a feed from Ethan Fischer and Visneskie, who collected his 10th assist of the season. Goaltender Jack Bree stood tall all night, turning aside 34 of 36 shots in a stellar performance that lifted the Cyclones to a 3–2 win on home ice.
Just two nights later, the Cyclones hit the road to face the Chatham Maroons. Despite a strong push, the team came up short in a 3–2 loss. After Chatham struck twice in the first, the second period went scoreless before Listowel found life in the third. Jordan Visneskie netted his 10th goal of the season, assisted by Lyndon Cabral, who also tallied his 10th assist of the campaign. Jack O’Donnell added another late goal from Ryan Cranny and Colton Henderson, but the comeback fell just short as the Maroons held on for the win.
The Cyclones now turn their attention to a busy weekend ahead — traveling to face the Cambridge Redhawks on Saturday, before returning home Sunday afternoon to host the St. Marys Lincolns. Please note: there is no home game this Friday. The next home game is Sunday, with puck drop set for 2:00 p.m. at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena.
In Honour of Remembrance Day
On behalf of the Listowel Cyclones organization, we extend our deepest gratitude to all veterans and active service members who have sacrificed so much for our country. Your courage, dedication, and love of freedom inspire us every day — both on and off the ice. As we gathered this weekend, we paused not only to remember those who served, but to remind ourselves that their legacy lives on in every community, every family, and every arena where Canadians come together. We will never forget.
