Cyclones Battle Hard in Weekend Back-to-Back, Look Ahead to Home Ice Rematch

LISTOWEL, ON — It was a demanding weekend of Greater Ontario Hockey League action for the Listowel Cyclones, who traveled to Cambridge Saturday night before returning home Sunday for an afternoon matchup at Steve Kerr Memorial Arena.

Saturday’s contest was staged under the historic roof of Galt Arena Gardens, one of the oldest continuously operating arenas in the world. The Redhawks took early control, capitalizing on chances and building a 2–0 lead after the first period, later doubling that advantage with two more goals in the second frame.

Listowel found their spark in the third period and mounted a determined push. At 1:12, Trent Harris broke the silence and put the Cyclones on the board, burying a rebound off a clean feed from Jordan Visneskie.

Cambridge would restore momentum with a response goal, but Listowel continued to press.

At 9:33, the Cyclones struck again — this time on the power play — when Jack O’Donnell wired a shot to the back of the net. The tally was set up by Jordan Visneskie, earning his second assist of the night, along with Hudson Wiles.

Just minutes later, Listowel converted again on the man advantage. Hudson Wiles found twine with a poised finish, with assists credited to Lydon Cabral and Trent Houghton.

With time winding down, the Cyclones pulled their goaltender in search of the equalizer. Cambridge sealed the outcome with an empty-net goal as Listowel fell by a final of 6–3.

Jack Bree stood tall in the effort, turning aside 40 shots for the Cyclones.

Sunday at Home

Returning to home ice less than 24 hours later, Listowel hosted the St. Marys Lincolns for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop. Despite generating offensive looks and maintaining a competitive pace, the Cyclones were unable to solve the Lincolns’ structure and goaltending, ultimately falling 4–0.

Between the pipes, Ethan Kowatsch delivered a strong performance, recording 29 saves and keeping the Cyclones within striking distance throughout the contest.

Looking Ahead

The Cyclones will not have to wait long for a rematch. They return to action this week at home, hosting the St. Marys Lincolns once again at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to pack the rink and bring the noise as the Cyclones look to rebound and defend home ice.
