Windsor product joins Listowel following an outstanding 87-point campaign with the Windsor Jr. Spitfires U16 AAA program
LISTOWEL, ONT. — The Listowel Cyclones are proud to announce the signing of centre Roman Shtefan for the 2026–2027 Greater Ontario Hockey League season.
Born in Windsor, Ontario, Shtefan arrives in Listowel following an exceptional 2025–2026 campaign with the Windsor Jr. Spitfires U16 AAA program. The skilled centre recorded 42 goals and 45 assists for 87 points across 57 appearances, establishing himself as one of the most productive players in his age group.
In ALLIANCE regular-season competition, Shtefan registered 29 goals and 24 assists for 53 points in only 30 games. He continued that production in the postseason, contributing one goal and four assists through four playoff contests.
Shtefan also gained valuable experience against older competition during the season. He scored in his lone appearance with the Windsor Jr. Spitfires U18 AAA team before earning an opportunity at the junior level with the LaSalle Vipers. Despite appearing in only three GOHL games, Shtefan collected two assists and demonstrated an ability to contribute against more experienced competition.
His outstanding season was further recognized at the provincial level. Shtefan participated in the 2026 OHL U16 Top Prospects Showcase and the league’s inaugural Futures Camp before being selected by the Barrie Colts in the fifth round, 91st overall, of the 2026 OHL Priority Selection.
The Barrie selection represents another significant step in Shtefan’s development and reflects the offensive ability, two-way potential and long-term upside he brings to the Cyclones.
Before returning to Windsor, Shtefan spent the 2024–2025 season with the Académie Ste-Cécile Stallions. He produced 17 goals and 14 assists for 31 points in only 14 NAPrepHL U16 games.
Shtefan also competed extensively at the U18 level that season, recording 10 points in 15 MPHL appearances and seven points in 19 GLPHL games. He elevated his play during the GLPHL postseason, scoring three goals and adding one assist in three playoff contests.
Throughout his progression from the Windsor Jr. Spitfires U15 AAA program to prep hockey, U16 AAA and the junior ranks, Shtefan has consistently demonstrated an ability to generate offence. His nearly even distribution of goals and assists during his 87-point season reflects a centre capable of both finishing scoring opportunities and creating them for his teammates.
The addition of Shtefan brings another talented young player into the Cyclones organization as the club continues building its roster for the upcoming season. His offensive production, experience against older competition and standing as an OHL-drafted prospect make him an exciting addition to Listowel’s forward group.
