Mitchell native returns to Listowel after posting a .921 save percentage and delivering several outstanding performances in the Cyclones crease
LISTOWEL, ONT. — The Listowel Cyclones are proud to announce that goaltender Jack Bree will return to the organization for the 2026–2027 Greater Ontario Hockey League season.
A native of Mitchell, Ontario, Bree has developed into a dependable presence between the pipes for the Cyclones. The returning netminder appeared in 18 games during the 2025–2026 campaign, recording seven victories, a 2.84 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage and one shutout.
Bree’s .921 save percentage was the best among Listowel’s goaltenders last season and reflected his ability to provide the club with composed, consistent goaltending throughout the year. He repeatedly performed under demanding circumstances, handling heavy shot totals while giving the Cyclones an opportunity to remain competitive.
One of Bree’s most impressive performances came during a road game against the Chatham Maroons, when he turned aside 50 shots in a tightly contested 4–3 decision. Despite the result, his performance kept Listowel within striking distance throughout the night and demonstrated his ability to remain composed under sustained pressure.
Bree was also instrumental in Listowel’s 4–3 road victory over the LaSalle Vipers, stopping 44 shots and delivering several crucial saves during an intense divisional matchup. His athleticism, positioning and composure allowed the Cyclones to withstand a relentless LaSalle attack and secure an important victory.
During a “Battle of Perth County” matchup in Stratford, Bree made 41 saves and helped the Cyclones earn a valuable point in a game that required overtime and a shootout. He also stopped 34 of 36 shots in Listowel’s emotional 3–2 overtime victory over the Komoka Kings on Veterans Night at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena.
Bree finished the season with another strong performance in LaSalle, turning aside 37 shots as the Cyclones earned a decisive 5–2 road victory during the final week of the campaign.
Those performances established Bree as a goaltender capable of handling significant workloads and delivering timely saves in important situations. His ability to remain poised when facing pressure became an important part of Listowel’s defensive foundation.
Bree originally joined the Cyclones during the 2024–2025 season. He made 12 appearances during his first campaign with the organization, posting a 6–3–1 record, a 2.57 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage and two shutouts.
He also appeared in seven games with the Mitchell Hawks of the Provincial Junior Hockey League that season, recording a 2.70 goals-against average, an impressive .934 save percentage and one shutout. Bree continued his strong play during the postseason, producing a .942 save percentage and a 2.79 goals-against average through three playoff appearances.
Before entering junior hockey, Bree played for the Waterloo Wolves U18 AAA program. During the 2023–2024 season, he posted a 1.67 goals-against average with two shutouts through 18 regular-season appearances.
Bree elevated his performance during the playoffs, recording a 5–1–1 record, a 1.08 goals-against average and one shutout across seven postseason games.
His minor-hockey development also included time with the Huron-Perth Lakers. During the 2022–2023 season, Bree appeared in 16 games for the Lakers’ U16 AAA team, producing an exceptional 0.91 goals-against average and nine shutouts. He added another shutout during three playoff appearances while recording a 1.80 goals-against average.
That season also included Bree’s first appearance at the junior level, when he suited up for one game with the Stratford Warriors.
Across two seasons in Listowel, Bree has made 30 regular-season appearances and recorded three shutouts. His progression through AAA, PJHL and GOHL competition has prepared him to take another important step with the Cyclones during the upcoming campaign.
The return of Bree provides the club with experience, continuity and a proven ability to withstand pressure in the crease. His strong positioning, athletic saves and calm approach will once again make him an important part of Listowel’s goaltending group.
