Port Elgin defenceman returns to Listowel following a 10-goal, 26-point campaign from the Cyclones blue line
LISTOWEL, ONT. — The Listowel Cyclones are proud to announce that defenceman Hudson Wiles will return to the organization for the 2026–2027 Greater Ontario Hockey League season.
A native of Port Elgin, Ontario, Wiles became an important presence on the Listowel blue line during his first season with the Cyclones. The right-shot defenceman appeared in 42 games during the 2025–2026 campaign, recording 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points while collecting 70 penalty minutes.
His offensive production provided the Cyclones with a consistent scoring threat from the back end. Wiles demonstrated an ability to contribute in multiple situations, whether moving the puck to Listowel’s forwards, supporting the offensive attack or using his shot from the point.
Throughout the season, Wiles became particularly known for his blue-line goals. His ability to deliver well-placed shots through traffic made him a dangerous presence at the point and an important contributor to the Cyclones’ power-play unit.
One of his most memorable goals came during a “Battle of Perth County” matchup against the Stratford Warriors at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena. Wiles stepped into a snapshot from the blue line and found the back of the net, providing an example of the shooting ability that became a defining part of his game.
Wiles also scored twice during Listowel’s commanding 8–1 road victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires and delivered power-play goals in important games against the Elmira Sugar Kings and Cambridge RedHawks. Late in the season, he opened the scoring in the Cyclones’ emotional 5–1 home victory over Sarnia.
In addition to finding the back of the net, Wiles regularly helped create opportunities for his teammates. He contributed assists on several power-play goals throughout the campaign and consistently provided Listowel with offence from the point.
Wiles joined the Cyclones in October 2025 after beginning the season with the Collingwood Blues of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. He appeared in four games for Collingwood before arriving in Listowel, recording one assist.
During the 2024–2025 season, Wiles divided his time between the Chilliwack Chiefs of the British Columbia Hockey League and Collingwood. He collected eight assists in 11 appearances with Chilliwack before producing two goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 26 regular-season games with the Blues. He also appeared in 10 OJHL playoff contests.
Wiles previously played 23 games for Chilliwack during the 2023–2024 season, gaining valuable experience at the Junior A level before continuing his development in Ontario.
His minor-hockey career included two seasons with the Barrie Colts AAA program. Wiles recorded eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 36 games with the Barrie Colts U16 AAA team during the 2022–2023 season. He added two goals and one assist through four playoff games.
The previous year, he registered three goals and six assists in 22 regular-season appearances with Barrie’s U15 AAA team before contributing four points in six postseason games.
That experience across the BCHL, OJHL and GOHL has helped Wiles develop into a composed and productive junior defenceman. His combination of experience, offensive ability and competitive edge will provide continuity and stability to Listowel’s defensive group.
With 10 goals during his first season in a Cyclones uniform, Wiles has already demonstrated that he can make a significant offensive contribution from the back end. His return gives the club an experienced defenceman capable of supporting the attack, contributing on special teams and continuing to deliver his trademark shots from the blue line.
