Owen Sound product returns to Listowel following an 18-point campaign during his first full season of junior hockey
LISTOWEL, ONT. — The Listowel Cyclones are proud to announce that forward Ryan Cranny will return to the organization for the 2026–2027 Greater Ontario Hockey League season.
A native of Owen Sound, Ontario, Cranny became a consistent member of the Cyclones lineup during his first full season of junior hockey. The right-shot forward appeared in 49 games during the 2025–2026 campaign, recording six goals and 12 assists for 18 points while collecting 39 penalty minutes.
Cranny contributed in several different situations throughout the season, providing Listowel with offensive depth at even strength and on special teams. His poise and awareness under pressure allowed him to create opportunities for his teammates while also developing into a scoring threat around the opposing net.
One of Cranny’s strongest performances came during Listowel’s 6–3 home victory over the Caledon Bombers. He opened the scoring with a power-play goal before assisting on Ethan Fischer’s power-play marker later in the first period, helping the Cyclones establish early control of the game.
Cranny continued to make an impact on special teams throughout the campaign. He assisted on Clark deBoer’s first career GOHL goal during a shorthanded sequence against the St. Thomas Stars and contributed to Aiden Renaud’s first goal of the season during Listowel’s 4–2 road victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires.
He reached the 10-assist mark during a closely contested home game against the Chatham Maroons, helping set up another power-play goal from Fischer.
Cranny also produced several notable moments during Listowel’s rivalry games. In a “Battle of Perth County” matchup against the Stratford Warriors, he assisted on Hudson Wiles’ blue-line goal and Jack O’Donnell’s power-play marker before scoring the Cyclones’ final goal of the game.
Later in the season, Cranny scored on the power play during Listowel’s third-period comeback against Chatham. His ability to contribute as both a scorer and playmaker was reflected in the balanced six-goal, 12-assist stat line he produced during his first complete GOHL campaign.
Before joining the Cyclones, Cranny spent two productive seasons with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA program.
During the 2024–2025 season, he recorded 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 30 appearances with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders U18 AAA team. He also collected 38 penalty minutes and appeared in one postseason contest.
Cranny produced an identical offensive stat line during the previous season with Grey-Bruce’s U16 AAA team. He again registered 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points in 30 regular-season games before contributing two goals and one assist through six playoff contests.
Across those two AAA regular seasons, Cranny accumulated 24 goals and 30 assists for 54 points in 60 games, demonstrating consistent offensive production as he progressed from the U16 to U18 level.
His first taste of junior hockey came during the 2023–2024 season, when he appeared in one regular-season game and two playoff contests with the Port Colborne Sailors. Cranny later played three games for the Elmira Sugar Kings during the 2024–2025 campaign.
Cranny’s development was also recognized at the Ontario Hockey League level. The Windsor Spitfires selected him in the 11th round, 204th overall, of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection following his productive U16 season with Grey-Bruce.
His progression from AAA hockey into a full-time position with the Cyclones demonstrated his ability to adjust to the speed, physicality and demands of junior competition. After appearing in all but one of Listowel’s regular-season games, Cranny will return with valuable experience and a greater familiarity with the GOHL.
The return of Cranny provides the Cyclones with another established young forward capable of contributing throughout the lineup. His offensive instincts, special-teams experience and ability to produce as both a scorer and playmaker will once again make him an important part of Listowel’s forward group.
