Listowel, Ont- The Listowel Cyclones delivered a strong all-around performance Friday night, hosting the Waterloo Siskins for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena, skating away with a hard-earned win in front of the home crowd.
The opening period set the tone early, as Will Kueneman made an immediate impact in his first game with the Cyclones, and his debut in the GOHL. Kueneman opened the scoring with an unassisted marker, recording his first goal in league play and giving Listowel an early advantage.
Momentum carried into the second period, where Kueneman struck again, doubling his tally on the night with assists from Aiden Renaud and Ryan Cranny. Waterloo answered back to tighten the contest, but the Cyclones responded late in the frame. At 16:42, Thomas Paleczny found the back of the net off a setup from Tate Berfelz, restoring Listowel’s cushion heading into the third.
The Cyclones locked things down defensively in the final period, with Trenton Harris sealing the result with an empty-net goal, assisted by Ryan Cranny. Between the pipes, Ethan Kowatsch delivered a composed performance, turning aside 38 shots to backstop the victory.
The Cyclones would defeat Waterloo 4-1
