Listowel, Ontario- The Listowel Cyclones returned to home ice on a rare Sunday afternoon game at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena, facing off against the visiting St. Thomas Stars for a 2:00 P.M. puck drop. Despite a strong effort and several key milestones, the Cyclones fell 4–2 in regulation.
The opening period saw St. Thomas strike first, capitalizing on early momentum to take a 1–0 lead heading into the intermission.
In the second period, the Cyclones found life while shorthanded. Rookie forward Clark Deboer scored his first career GOHL goal, a shorthanded tally that brought the home crowd to its feet. The goal was assisted by Ryan Cranny, who showed poise and awareness under pressure, setting up Deboer’s milestone marker.
The Cyclones carried that energy into the third period when Colton Henderson notched his first goal of the season, finding the back of the net just 4:06 into the frame. The play developed through crisp passing from Jordan Visneskie and Jack O’Donnell, showcasing the team’s growing chemistry and determination.
However, the Stars responded with three unanswered goals in the third period to seal the game, skating away with a 4–2 victory.
Despite the loss, the Cyclones continue to show signs of progress, with young players making their mark and the group tightening their play in all three zones.
The Cyclones now hit the road for their next matchup, traveling to Sarnia to face the Legionnaires on Thursday night for a 7:10 P.M. puck drop.
The team will then return home for a Halloween night showdown on Thursday, October 31, when the Elmira Sugar Kings come to town for the always-intense “Battle of 86.” Puck drop is set for 7:30 P.M. at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena.
Fans are encouraged to come dressed in costume and pack the rink for what promises to be an electric Halloween hockey night in Listowel
