Friday night saw the Cyclones return home to the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena, where a solid crowd of 715 fans created a loud and exciting atmosphere against the Chatham Maroons.
Listowel came out flying in the first period. Lyndon Cabral opened the scoring with Jack O’Donnell picking up the assist. The Cyclones extended the lead on the power play when Ethan Fischer found the back of the net, assisted by Ryan Cranny and Aiden Renaud, with Cranny recording his 10th assist of the season.
In the second period, Tate Berfelz added another for Listowel, finishing a play set up by Thomas Paleczny. Chatham responded with two goals of their own, setting the stage for a tense final frame.
The third period delivered the drama fans came for. Jack O’Donnell restored the Cyclones’ momentum with a goal assisted by Jordan Visneskie and Cabral. The Maroons answered back with two goals to force overtime.
