Cyclones 2, Falcons 4
The Falcons struck early in the first period to take a 1–0 lead. In the second, St. Catharines extended their advantage before Lyndon Cabral responded for Listowel on the powerplay. Cabral, recently recalled to the Erie Otters of the OHL, made an immediate impact in his return to the Cyclones lineup. His goal — assisted by Jordan Visneskie — highlighted exactly why the GOJHL continues to serve as the official development league for the Ontario Hockey League.
Visneskie’s helper marked his 20th assist of the season, further solidifying his consistent offensive contributions. The Falcons, however, added another late in the second period to maintain control.
In the third, the Cyclones pushed back. Aiden Renault capitalized on the powerplay, finishing a well-executed setup from Ethan Fischer and Jack O’Donnell to narrow the gap. Despite sustained pressure, the Falcons sealed the contest with an empty-net goal, handing Listowel a 4–2 defeat. Jack Bree delivered a strong performance between the pipes, turning aside 27 shots.
Friday Night at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena
Vipers 5, Cyclones 2
Friday night saw the Cyclones return to home ice at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena to host the LaSalle Vipers.
Listowel opened the scoring in the first period as Tate Berfelz found the back of the net, assisted by Ewan Muzzell and Thomas Paleczny. The Vipers responded quickly, however, scoring twice to take a 2–1 lead into the intermission.
LaSalle continued to build momentum in the second period, adding three goals to widen the margin. In the third, Paleczny recorded the Cyclones’ final tally of the evening, finishing a play set up by Keaton Middleton and Colton Henderson. Despite the late push, the Cyclones fell 5–2.
Looking Ahead
The Cyclones are right back in action tomorrow night as they travel to face the Chatham Maroons for a 7:00 P.M. puck drop. Fans can catch the action live on FloHockey.
On Monday — Family Day — the Cyclones return home for another classic “Battle of Perth County” rivalry matchup against the Stratford Warriors at the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena. Puck drop is set for 2:00 P.M.
With just four regular season home games remaining, the Cyclones encourage fans to pack the Kerr and support the team during this critical final stretch. The energy from the Listowel faithful will be key as the club pushes toward the postseason.
