Friday’s home contest against the Strathroy Rockets was much more than a game. It marked the Oak Tree Financial Annual Food Drive, turning the Steve Kerr Memorial Arena into a hub of community generosity and shared purpose.
In a powerful show of solidarity, Cyclones players and staff wore orange ribbons in support of Kenzie Beisel, the sister of Cyclones forward #26 Cameron Beisel. At just 22 years old, Kenzie was diagnosed with AML leukemia in the fall of 2024. Throughout her journey, Kenzie and her family have demonstrated remarkable strength, courage, and resilience. The Cyclones organization proudly stood alongside the Beisel family—one small gesture to reflect unwavering support from the entire Cyclones community.

When the puck dropped at 7:30 p.m., the Cyclones matched that emotion with determination. Strathroy opened the scoring in the first period, but Listowel responded quickly. Jordan Visneskie buried the Cyclones’ first goal of the night, with assists from Trent Houghton and Jack O’Donnell, knotting the game and setting the tone.
The Rockets regained the lead in the second period, sending the Cyclones to the intermission trailing. What followed in the third was a defining response.
Tate Berfeltz ignited the comeback, finishing a play set up by Trent Houghton, who recorded his 10th assist of the season. Moments later, Aiden Renaud unleashed a perfectly placed wrist shot from the blue line, beating the goaltender cleanly. The goal was assisted by Visneskie and O’Donnell, giving the Cyclones their first lead of the night.
With Strathroy pressing late and their net empty, Visneskie sealed the outcome with an empty-net goal, securing a 4–2 Cyclones victory.
Between the pipes, Ethan Kowatsch delivered a composed and confident performance, turning aside 30 shots to anchor the win.
Saturday in Komoka
Kings vs. Cyclones
Less than 24 hours later, Listowel hit the road to face the Komoka Kings. The Kings struck twice in the opening period, taking early control.
The Cyclones pushed back in the second when Thomas Paleczny found the back of the net, assisted by Clark DeBoerand Aiden Renaud, trimming the deficit and injecting life into the bench. Unfortunately the Cyclones would lose 4-1.
In goal, Jack Bree battled throughout the night, making 27 saves and giving Listowel a chance to climb back into the contest.
