Callander product joins Listowel following a 16-point U18 AAA campaign with the North Bay Trappers
LISTOWEL, ONT. — The Listowel Cyclones are proud to announce the signing of defenceman Kobe Gravelle for the 2026–2027 Greater Ontario Hockey League season.
A native of Callander, Ontario, Gravelle joins the Cyclones following four seasons of development within the North Bay Trappers AAA program. The 17-year-old left-shot defenceman arrives in Listowel after completing a strong 2025–2026 campaign at the U18 AAA level.
Gravelle appeared in 35 regular-season games with the North Bay Trappers U18 AAA team, recording one goal and 15 assists for 16 points. His team-leading style of puck distribution from the blue line allowed him to contribute consistently to North Bay’s transition game and offensive attack.
He continued that production during the postseason, adding three assists through six playoff appearances. Altogether, Gravelle collected one goal and 18 assists for 19 points across 41 regular-season and playoff games.
The significant increase in his assist production reflected an important step in Gravelle’s development. His ability to move the puck efficiently, identify passing lanes and support the offence from the back end complements the defensive responsibility at the foundation of his game.
Gravelle has described himself as a dependable, defence-first player who takes pride in shutting down opposing forwards, blocking shots and making intelligent breakout passes. He has also identified Detroit Red Wings defenceman Moritz Seider as a player whose physical, composed and defensively responsible style he works to emulate.
Standing six-foot-one, Gravelle provides additional size and reach to the Cyclones’ defensive group. His combination of defensive awareness, physical presence and improving puck-moving ability gives Listowel a versatile young defenceman capable of continuing his development at the junior level.
Gravelle also received his first opportunity in junior hockey during the 2025–2026 season, appearing in one Provincial Junior Hockey League game with the Stayner Siskins. Although he did not record a point, the appearance provided valuable experience against older competition ahead of his full-time transition to the GOHL.
Before moving to the U18 level, Gravelle competed with the North Bay Trappers U16 AAA program during the 2024–2025 season. He recorded two goals and four assists for six points in 29 games while accumulating 30 penalty minutes.
That season challenged Gravelle to compete against older and physically mature players in Great North U18 League competition. The experience helped him adjust to an increased pace, greater strength along the boards and the quicker decision-making required at higher levels of hockey.
He returned the following season as a more experienced player and responded with a substantial increase in offensive production. Gravelle’s 16 regular-season points in 2025–2026 represented a 10-point improvement from the previous campaign, with his 15 assists demonstrating his progression as a puck-moving defenceman.
During the 2023–2024 season, Gravelle appeared in 23 games with the North Bay Trappers U15 AAA team, registering two goals and four assists for six points. He also competed in four playoff contests that year.
His AAA development began with the Trappers’ U14 program in 2022–2023. Gravelle recorded four goals and three assists for seven points across 31 appearances, beginning a progression that ultimately carried him through every major level of the North Bay organization.
Across four seasons with the Trappers, Gravelle developed from a young U14 player into a reliable U18 defenceman trusted to contribute in defensive situations while increasingly supporting the offence. His steady statistical progression, junior hockey exposure and experience against older competition have prepared him to take the next step with the Cyclones.
Gravelle also comes from a strong hockey family. His father, Glen, played junior hockey as a defenceman, while his older brother, Nate, was selected by the North Bay Battalion in the OHL U18 Priority Selection. That family background has provided Kobe with experienced guidance as he continues navigating his own path through junior hockey.
The addition of Gravelle provides the Cyclones with another promising young player as the organization continues constructing its defensive group for the upcoming season. His size, defensive commitment, physical competitiveness and ability to move the puck make him an exciting addition to Listowel’s blue line.
